Africa Tell Me Why Poem by Nobert Mathumo

Africa Tell Me Why

Describe to me beauty from the eyes of a blind man
Where color is deflected to nothingness
Let me be a child again and love without expectation
Wake me from this sleep as I walk
But please hear me as I talk

Tell me why mama Africa cry
Tell me why mama Africa cry
Tell me why you won’t at-least do what you preach
From a distance I heard a sounds of a gun shot
And beyond these boarders my people bleed
Soaked in color that paints their skin red
Is this the different skin tone you seek
Have we fallen for deceit
Surrendered and raised arms to xenophobic defeat

South Africa wake-up, Wake-up Africa
Wake-up from this illusion
That the mob is the only solution
Your streets are blood and filled with confusion
Perception has become your worst deception
Every situation has a remedy
Every problem has a solution
Only the right can fix the wrong
Like good over evil

Set your minds sharper than spear to cut down the feeble minds
That make you believe it’s worth it
To take a life of a brother or sister from another mother
Unshackle these aparthetic chains’
Which have enslaved your hearts

What truth do we seek
What lies do we leak
What words do we teach,
Shall we continue to hope
When faith starts to bleed
'In time Where love is lost
Will it be found with time?
Will the wounded hearts heal with time?
Is time truly the healer of all wounds?
Wounded by passage of time?
I too image an innocent child
Too near than far
When nightmares behold the blood sweat and tears;

So let loving love reigns,
for the unknown is the untold
the forbidden secrets of the heat
only known to the gate keeper
Yet who shall speak for the child in the gutter
without bread or butter,
who shall strive to make their life better
When you continue to do the same thing
sorry will not matter
Who shall tend to the wounds of the broken heart-ed,
when the wealth is debated (-and)
shared behind closed doors and the wrong is already done.
When emotional scars are like the sea mimicking the land,
who shall hear Mama Africa cry,

In the darkest dungeon where they fear to visit,
who shall love enough where love fornicate with hate,
who shall speak enough to be heard
When my silence became violent
South Africa wake-up, Wake-up Africa
Wake-up from this illusion
Describe to me beauty in from the eyes of a blind man
Where color is deflected to nothingness
Let me be a child again and love without expectation
Wake me from this sleep as I walk
But please hear me as I talk

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Love is found in places where lions fear to prey
we all belong to this land Mama Africa,
it’s time to break down these man made boarders for we have seen in the past,
history is our great teacher and who feels it knows it.
'Where is the love that we all talk about when i can hear Mama Africa cry'
