Again Last Night I Dreamed Of You Poem by Theresa Dould Cummings

Again Last Night I Dreamed Of You

My darling my darling, only a moment
since you've left. The moments
seem like hours.
I feel your arms around me
Holding me close and closer still
your hands, your fingers exploring
discovering, mingled with mine.
I have found you, a special place,
at this moment, mine and yours
till I hear the pleasure in your voice.
I rest my head upon your chest
and listen to the beating of your heart
our laughter matching pace.
I know your touch as you know mine.
Your kiss has bruised my lips
with the sweetness of your taste.
red wine and honey cannot compare.
I ache for your touch.
I hear your voice, still whispering
my name. When will you come again
to my garden gate?
Your flowers await you, warmed
by the winter sun. No one before you
never after you.
We laugh, for we know the rhythm of the night.
Let us dance to our music
show me the steps
and I will show you something more.3: 40 a.m.
