Aisle 17 Poem by Mellisa Salazar

Aisle 17

Rating: 5.0

Pairs of eyes are peering
They watch us only from the side
Behind corners of long halls
They won't dare look us in the eye
They see our love floating above them
They can smell it when we walk by
But we're the only ones who can feel
The warm glow we hold inside
Like a moth to a flame
Their envy isn't something you can blame
Our smiles and blushed cheeks
say everything we tuck away
Behind a loosened belt
The treasures we have felt
Are easily placed best
Imagination colors the rest
Of the never been and never said
And all the love poems never read
A place that many want to know
But it's ours for keeping not for show
We try and play it off cool
and we make it seem like
There's nothing happening
it's all in their minds
