Whether a fairy tale love story
Or a modern valentine love engagement,
There is always a villain or a vampire,
Making a wicked attempt,
To separate the passionate lovers,
Like sharp thorns between two rose petals!
In Albert and Mileva's case,
It was not an unknown enemy,
But Albert's own mother- Pauline Einstein,
Who took an intense dislike to Mileva Maric.
When she heard of her son dating a Serbian girl,
Pauline was angry and frustrated.
When Albert told his mother very firmly
That he planned to get married to Mileva;
Pauline threw a terrible tantrum,
Throwing herself on bed,
Crying aloud, most shamelessly,
Pretending a nervous breakdown.
But Albert dismissed his mother's continuous nagging,
And went ahead with his relationship with Mileva.
Why was Pauline Einstein so vehemently against Mileva?
Was it Mileva's limp when she walked? Or that she was older?
Was it because she was a Serbian or was not a Jew?
One can only speculate! Only God would know, why she was so bitter!
