Albert Einstein 8 - Albert Happy In Switzerland Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Albert Einstein 8 - Albert Happy In Switzerland

Rating: 5.0

Switzerland is such a beautiful place
Blessed by unparalleled beauty,
That any mortal with admiration
For nature's wondrous kaleidoscope,
Would fall in love with this dream country.

For Albert, his last year in Canton Swiss school,
Surrounded by friendly, congenial atmosphere,
With no regimented regulations or terse rules,
Before he began his university education,
Turned out to be wonderful and refreshing.

Albert loved this peaceful country,
And enjoyed his stay as a boarder
With the loving family of Jost and Pauline Winteler
And their seven children.
Jost, apart from being a good teacher of Greek and history,
Was a warm, friendly person by nature,
Albert became so attached to this couple that
He began to address Pauline and Jost as Mama and Papa.

It was during this period of stay in Aargau that
Albert developed feelings for Winteler's daughter,
Marie -who was two years older to him.
When he heard that Marie loved violin,
He tried his very best to impress her with his violin playing.
This teenage crush, unfortunately, lasted only a year.
When Albert left Aargau to continue his university education
In Swiss Federal Polytechnical Institute in October,1896,
The sweet, dream like affair ended,
Though both families would have welcomed this alliance.

Love is, sometimes so unpredictable,
Like life, so uncertain and indefinite,
You cannot ask why it happened,
Nor can you question, why it did not happen!

A Biographical Poem

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I have always been fascinated by autobiographies and biographies of some great people, who have contributed a great deal to the society and humanity as a whole. Last one year, I have been reading on the life of Albert Einstein. Here are few poems on this great ‘Spiritual Scientist' - A fascinating life story of a great genius! In this poem I have added my own quote as the last verse of the poem. References: 1. "Albert Einstein - A biography" by Alice Calaprice & Trevor Lipscombe 2019, 2. "The New Quotable Einstein", Princerton, N.J, Princerton University Press,2005.

Geeta can be extremely philosophical at times " Love is, sometimes so unpredictable, Like life, so uncertain and indefinite, You cannot ask why it happened, Nor can you question, why it did not happen! "

Another beautiful personal information about Albert Einstein.Though he could have married Marie who had an affectiin to him Albert had to leave the place for higher studies. This depicts that life is so unpredictable. We do not achieve all what we desire. Its a way of life..Great poem
