Alchemist Poem by Kong Yin

Alchemist

I am an alchemist.
From the days of Adam and Eve
I began experiments in my laboratory.
I combine and sublimate
divergent thoughts and sentiments
subjecting them to chemical analysis
and rigorous evaluation.

Due to deficits in methodology
I have run many risks:
I've been burned
nearly poisoned
and one explosion
almost blew off my roof.

My experiments have persisted many lifetimes;
I continue to discover new elements and catalysts.
Innumerable chemical laws
were delineated by me,
but even now my lab report
lacks one entry:
which few atoms
constitute the unique chemical molecule -
me.
