All Exits No Entrances For Now. Poem by RIC BASTASA

All Exits No Entrances For Now.

a poem
assumes the
mobility of
verbs

such as
a jumping jack

or a hammering
of a nail

a sound of
sand by a boat
arriving

imagine
all actions inside
a poem

whatever
you arrive at what
you want to drive

love making love
a bumpy room
a squeaky bed
a rambling window
curtain

there is the
silent action of
two mouths

when the close
the heavens open

when they open
there is such an emptiness

which fills everything
breasts and
shoulders

thighs and curving
necks

swans on the lake
ripples of
delights

a mother holds
the hands of the
boy

years and years
are added
to finally comprehend
all these

what is not spoken
always prevails

mouth-less eternity
fluid bodies of thoughts

all these: skies and seas
borders and deserts
milestones and dead-ends

all metaphors
that speak for what
we cannot

there are no
words after we kiss

i let you go
i close the door

and perhaps
to love's sake i may
soon
write about it

there will be nothing
about us
all exits no entrances
for now.
