Almost Poem by Vi Lanflagle

Almost

Can’t stand the mind consuming numbness.
Can’t take the pain.
You’re in my mind;
I keep trying to push you aside.

She says just leave you be,
Don’t resist; don’t completely give in.
I’m lost without you,
I’m blind and ignorant with you.

I was lost in the rain,
Then there was shelter,
You came and took me in,
Called me your own.

You lied.
You hurt me so much more
Than I thought you could.
I’ve never felt like this before.

Please don’t say you want me back,
Please don’t say you do;
For if you do
I'll lose my resolve.
No, it won't happen again,
I’m fine the way I am.
I can stay like this,
Just until I figure out which is real.
