Almost Forgot Poem by Devin Iven

Almost Forgot

Before this light set in.
A torch to push you out.
You drowned me every moment.
And filled my soul with doubt.

I never saw you coming.
But oh how long your stay.
For years you’ve lived inside my head.
War rages on each day.

My nemesis, my enemy.
He who tore me down.
The demon living in my soul.
The face behind the frown.

But numbness works both ways.
And your torment I bore through.
Death of my heart relaxed me.
I’m thinking less of you.

Now several days have passed.
The darkness in the distance.
I’ve lived in waning light.
You’re finally falling to persistence.

I know that you are strong.
There can really be no doubt.
But for right now I am stronger,
And your hate I’m now without.

Never can I forget you,
but I try not to notice.
Pushed deep into my mind,
is evils blossomed lotus.

With my time passing quickly.
I almost forgot you there.
My hope is you won’t notice.
That my mind has a tear…
