Alone With Me Poem by Terri Louise

Alone With Me

We’re standing here.
You look towards the light.
And back to the shadows.
Are we the same?
Do you trust what I trust?
But we both lie and hurt and lust for the chance.
To be happy.
Alone with me.

You open your eyes.
Your soul is there.
I know you are waiting for your chance to fly.
Should I ask or pry?
Will you run from me?
You hold my hand and talk of sin.
I understand.
There are no lies for you and I.
Alone with me.

I feel light and dark.
The forces combine.
I know that you were hard to find.
And you were looking.
And I was here.
Looking back at you with past of sin.
And you hold my gaze.
While you hold my hand.
Alone with me.
