Always Poem by C H Sund

Always

And what of this word…always?
Do we always wish it so?
Do we always want to have it so?
Always, evermore, eternal, too?

The youthful eyes express their love
knowing not the word always means.
Their idyllic innocence abounds,
filled with eternal words of romance.

In all ways, in all things this word always.
A commitment word given so callously.
‘Passioned night, impassioned rhetoric
dawn’s sun casts such harsh light.

If love be always then know its meaning
of shadows and doubts and ugliness
interspaced eternal moments sweet bliss.
Roller coaster this ride of love…always.
