Amira Poem by Jack Ashenden

Amira

Tremendous joy, a newly found feeling,
fills my young heart to a painful level.
Excitement grows, depression sent reeling,
the mind that had no hope still in revel.

Blood, blue with winter’s chill, warm with passion,
arms trembling with fear, firm in assurance.
A twoship ripe and ready to fashion
A heart still to be won with endurance.

And yes, looking at you I do wonder
What you see in my corrupted mind
Hoping you can cast your chains asunder,
And affection, trust and love in me find.

But my soul is at peace, my heart at rest,
for one thing I know, we will give us the best.
