Amnesia Poem by Karen Thornburg

Amnesia

I wish you could see that my heart has developed amnesia

To the taste of our story beneath my tongue
It has forgotten how awestruck I was at the way you fingered my strings
The music reverberating within the depths of me

It has forgotten how you played the keys of my spine with butterfly
lips quivering with anticipation of what was yet to come.

Forgotten how I endured your touch against my skin
While the tranquility of your language curled my breath
Just to consume desires head whole.

I wish you could see that my heart has developed amnesia,

To how beautiful I could be while you took my breath away.

How I could ride my emotions so deeply
While Gasping for every penetrating reason, to let your versus slide down my throat and cling to the perfect copulate.

I wish you could see
My heart has developed amnesia
But my mind just can not.
