(to HRH Queen Elizabeth II of blessed memory)
among the flowers and the tributes
that now you cannot gather
still we hope, from new realms now
and comforted somehow still
in looking back from that far distance
who of us on earth can gauge from here
you still may see as on a far distant stage
those who mourn your going hence in unutterable tears
such a bright emblem of a destiny
accepted
through regrets, and setbacks
losses innumerable and all the glad hours
all these things past
may you find strength at last in brighter towers
castles, all reunions won.
queen of love far more than power
now that your reign is done.
