An Eye And An Ear, An Arm And A Love Poem by Hannington Mumo

An Eye And An Ear, An Arm And A Love

There's a fair eye that dwells above the clouds
Beguiled not by the prejudices of men;
It sees through the opaque of malice and spite;
It pierces through shenanigans of mouth and pen,
And cannot be dimmed by all earthly might.

It's lodged beyond the seeing of angels an unerring ear,
Away from the reach of bias and fear;
Where the Almighty arbitrates disputes between mortals,
Impersonal and uninfluenced by their tongues of sway,
But with the transparency of noonday.

It rests upon the tables of eternal festivity
A benevolent arm that works for the good of all;
Never moved by hypocritical compassion of men
But does its everlasting chores as it did before
The pillars of earth were laid.

It exists a love by Father and Son
For all mortal under sun penitent;
All that their sins repent,
But none for them that may deem themselves holy!

These and many more facts of heavenly feature
The benevolent Muse of the sky me has taught,
And these dear as heart forever I'll hold
Even if they be unbearable and as a heated iron hot!
