By Li Bai Tr. East Sea Fairy
Clear and cool autumn air blows.
Shines the moon with bright glows.
Fallen leaves meet and part.
At them the sleeping chilled crow gets a start.
Pining for her I know not when we can meet again.
At this moment tonight I can't help yearning for her with pain.
Once into my yearning heart,
You will know yearning have torn my heart apart.
Oh, for long I've longed and yearned for my sweetheart so.
On and on forever this short-lived lovesickness will go.
If I knew it was such a painful concern and care
I wouldn't have gotten to know you, my fair.
