An Ode To Mortality Poem by Daisy Pereira

An Ode To Mortality

Sometimes poetry is like that
a naked prayer sent to heaven
no inhibitions
no reservations
just straight rays
emitting from a love stricken sun
it doesnt cover itself
even behind leaves
it strolls among the meadows of paradise
before it was lost to mankind
remorseless
no more griefs
no more regrets
blue eyed time
raining in the sun

for love need no excuses
when it reigns your earth
questions asked to immortality
mortals do answer
a heart pierced with an arrow
blood reddens the seas,
as sunset,
your blood,

even then you stay as always
eyes simmering in the cruellest lights
refuses to close its eyelids
you whisper, I hear,
'stay'
before death has his say on mortals.
