An Ordinary Man Poem by Francis Duggan

An Ordinary Man

The life journey I travel won't take me to renown
I'm an ordinary man in an ordinary Town
And ordinary people I meet every day
Like me they live life in an ordinary way
Those who gobble with the turkeys with the eagles don't soar
Words from someone wise that I have heard before
I must be a turkey I fly close to the ground
The eagles above me are soaring around
But turkeys too serve their purpose to give them their due
And we all cannot be winners that only seems true
The eagles are soaring high in the clear sky
And the turkeys a short distance only can fly
An ordinary man my type are not rare
And people like me I do meet everywhere.
