An Ordinary Rhymer Poem by Francis Duggan

An Ordinary Rhymer

An ordinary rhymer those who seem to know say
But the ordinary rhymer with words has a way
A maker of rhymes he makes rhymes every day
With words he is one who likes to have a play,
An ordinary rhymer a stranger to renown
He will never be known as the pride of the town
Not seen as a writer or one worthy of note
By the literary critics who say he's not a poet,
An ordinary rhymer his type are not rare
There are many like him in the big World out there
He writes for the love of it not for wealth or fame
And his never will become a famous name
And though the critics say he's one who does not make the grade
True rhymers are born and they cannot be made.
