An Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living Poem by Daya Nandan

An Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living

Rating: 5.0

If we were to live without taking risks and chances,
If we were to simply bow to all of our circumstances,
If we always listen to politicians without any question,
Then how will our people ever see progression?

Take calculative risks, examine the possibilities,
Challenge fear and doubt in the realm of our realities,
Defy directions given if your logic deems them as unfit,
Fear not intimidation or aggression, dare to take a hit!

Let not yourself be washed away by the flow of the river,
Let not your fears and doubts be the reason you shiver,
Follow your burning passion, not the flow of the common crowd,
Let not what the crowd says be the reason your head is bowed,

Fear not the wrath failure for it too is a part of learning,
Learn from mistakes, let them not dim your spirit burning,
Live life to the fullest potential for time is unforgiving,
As Socrates once said 'an unexamined life is not worth living'.
