And Birds Sang Poem by Phil Soar

And Birds Sang

I sat in the garden while birds sang
Some I recognized, as if they were on repeat
Like music on a compact disc
And my favorites were all there

Announcing their territories
Calling their young
So many overtures
Beautifully sung

A welcoming orchestra
Singing in tune
I sat there and listened
All spring afternoon
