What do you think this poem is about?

And so I wait.

i saw straight through.
and every time, i waited.
waited for you to come around again.

But now I'm alone, your eyes, your words
cut me like a switchblade knife.
There is no grace period, there's too much
time to pass, time on my hands, time I
would rather waste away with you.

Because there was never anyone else.
No, never anyone but you.

And when I saw straight through it all,
I saw a scared little kid with nobody
to turn to. And so I wait.

Time passes, you'll come around.
You'll realize your mistake, you'll
change your mind & be mine again.

And so I wait.
