And What Happens Now, After Brussels,22/03/2016?

And will poppies
now bloom again
in Flanders fields
as red as blood?

Where conflict's been
declared once more
though not the way
we thought it would.

And will the dead
be recognised
as victims of
an act of war?

How can we now
retaliate
where no justice
has gone before.

Thirty-four dead,
three hundred hurt.
A town in siege
no trains, no cars,

no cinemas.
It's all closed down,
no shops, no schools,
no trams, no bars.

No way to live
no life at all.
No way to seek,
or find, release.

While wounded men
and woman die
from wounds sustained
in times of peace.
