And What Is Time? Poem by Raymond Farrell

And What Is Time?

And what is time
For millenia philosophers and scientists
Have struggled to understand the phenomenon
A true understanding thus far
Has evaded us
Once thought to be constant
We now know
About time dilation or slowing
With motion and in gravity
This enigma
Presents itself in many facets
So much of our understanding of life
Revolves around it
As we keep time, measure time
Greet in time, plan our future
In increments of time
Perceive our past, present, and future
In terms of time
Which gives us the feeling
Of the passage of time
As well as the block universe
View of time
And yet the concept
Of the origin of the universe
In the Big Bang theory
Is at odds with
The block universe view of time.

Time is just another field that permeates space. I am not currently aware of block theory. I will research it. The concept and subjective experience of time have long intrigued me.
