Another Piece Of Rubbish Poem by Patricia Sampson

Another Piece Of Rubbish

I'm just a bit of litter that goes by many names
I sometimes get called garbage but its all the same
It can be very hurtful when they call me a piece of toot
and give me no consideration when they crush me underfoot

I became a piece of litter when I wasn't placed inside the bin
and now, I get blamed for almost everything
When I am spotted I just get left scattered on the ground
and very often left there after I've been found

My life is such a mystery if Im never binned
As I very often get caught up in the wind
I find myself in the air flying totally out of control
The damage that I might cause is astronomical

I find myself in places that I would rather never be
Sometimes wet and shivering cold, in the oceans sea
I hear the fish complaining about another piece of trash
It seems that when I'm around their lives become ahash

I am a sad piece of litter and very lonely too
I wonder how you would you feel if it was you
Can I just ask you all to place me in the bin
Then we would all be very happy and the whole planet would win
