Arrested Alive Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Arrested Alive

Arrested alive

Simple is the reading
-simpler hearing
-or watching

Not for me and my mind
-I feel winds moving sands
-memories, and waltz dance
-with other memories
-with observed and witnessed
-with bell of Johan Strauss

His hair is pitch black
-very long
-his beard in blood
-naked his upper part

He is said to be the equal
-to head of the MOSSAD
-ISIS's in Iraq

Feel whirlpool of tears

Memories, histories
The righteous as rebel
Brutal as winner
-come to mind…

And: "Checkmate! "

Human is the same
-politics and the law
-are the tools in a game
-playing a drum for winner

We talk of the victims
-the martyrs
Abel and Cain, murder

I do not allow me to judge one!
And beating I cannot
So killing I dare not

Do I know what they think?
Do I know why and how?
Would I not be the same?
If born in same place?
If had same condition?
If raised in same terrain?

No do not dare to beat
Neither do dare to kill

Need to think
Need to think
Need to think

Can only
Simply
Say
Yes
No

If walking in his shoes
In his vein and skin
In his shade
With his needs

I have read
I have seen
I have heard

Many killed
Unjustly

Wish had died
Right there then

Went through such a hell
Listened to mean "Q"
Gave them "A"
-interrogate

Feel insults
His hair shaved
Him in cage

I wish he had been killed
Then and there…
Full-stop and an end

Has mother in waiting
And father crying
