Astral Projection Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Astral Projection

The first time she called me baby
She lost control. Her fingernails
Dug deep into my knees, She grabbed the back of my head and slowed all the way down.
trying to keep composure.
Staring into my eyes. She paused trying to hide her smile. Trying to hide her eyes. Californication of the blue fluorescent light mixed with her silhouette, now Memphis Blue. She grabbed & hung on clawing her way against my arms trying to keep control. She took all of her stress out on me, everything that went
wrong throughout her day now visible
throughout her face, visible through the way she moved until she could take no more. She paused again. Slowing her movements to the bare minimum.
Her moans blended into the
music, a loop of the best part of the song shared between her & I.
No matter how much she bluffed, the truth ultimately revealed itself. She fell into the palm of my hands, her hands gripping the inside of my chest, biting the side of her bottom lip.
She couldn't run, if she wanted to.
I loved to watch the faces she'd
make. Her sew-in hanging down a couple inches from my face, My hands tight against her hips controlling her
every move. For every downward spiral I would swirl up against her walls. The pressure from squeezing her hips and holding her in place was catching up.
She squeezed tight pausing in mid
motion again this time sliding down. She bawled her fist up like
she wanted to hit me, forgetting that vulnerability has its flaws.
The same flaws revealed between us
Both as soon as I walked through the door
& to think, she thought I wasn't going to show up. I've never felt anything as
soft as her skin. As soft as her hair.
I could feel the braids underneath her
sew-in as I pulled her head back.
She felt like air, the way she melted into
my hands. The way she fell into my arms. Her heartbeat tripled tapping on
whatever part of me she could reach
& To think, she thought I wouldn't show
up. To think what exactly went through
her mind
