At Midnight, I Asked In Soliloquy Poem by Mohammad Younus

At Midnight, I Asked In Soliloquy

At midnight, I asked in soliloquy,
'Where could I find the palace of the King,
Of all dominions? '
He replied in my heart's ear, 'Next to your sight,
In the shadow of My manifestations.'

In quest for the palace of the King,
I went to human-made houses of the King,
Constructed by followers of different faiths,
To see the throne of the King in supposed palaces,
But nowhere I could find the King sitting inside.

In stillness, I heard the sound of the river of life,
Flowing from the fathomless source of life.
I no longer worry about the course that the river,
Of my life takes in its journey back to the sea.
