At Present Poem by Lily Espinosa

At Present

I love you so completely,
But hate that it destroys every part of me.
If I could end this tormenting knowledge,
Would I?
Love has never been a simple journey,
Bends, twists, leaps and falls
Come ten to the dozen.
Still, hopefully someday
I'll look back and come to appreciate,
That I signed my life away.

Torn in every direction
I’ll continue to try and find the perfect compromise.
Things you did,
I know I did them too.
I guess it just seemed a little more surprising, coming from you.
Did I drive you to it?
Is it really all my fault?
Shall I drag it out, twist the truth,
Or leave it, just like I’ve been taught?
Somewhere I know I’ll still speculate
If you ever did stop loving me.
And continue to imagine,
The things that probably never happened.
