At The Bottom Of The Abyss Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

At The Bottom Of The Abyss

Life seems like a flicker of light
A faraway dream
That passes above my head
Not bothered to take a look inside my troubled mind
The open mouth of my bottomless pit of darkness is a true horrible story
It is like being swallowed by a veil of darkness
There are no good news to embrace
Or even the warmth of life to feel
Everything is frozen cold
The last sap of happiness
Sits on the tip of my tongue
Not to be tasted
But to question my appetite for life
Should I give up?
And let the substance of darkness be my home
Should I pour myself on this carpet of misery?
And be deflated of all hope
It is not the physical face of life
That keeps me hopeful
It is the warm embrace of the spirit within
That gives me inner peace
Life is not a poisonous vial
But there are forces of evil
Scavenging around my life
They want to taste my flesh
To drink my blood
But I cannot accommodate their ravenous appetite
I have to push through this painful ordeal
And call upon the name of God
Faith, Hope and Love are my only way out
