At The Cross Road... Poem by Chika Nwokeoma

At The Cross Road...

After years of threading and seeking
I met this soul
At my cross road
Surrounded by cosmic hiss and chippings
I know in my unconsciousness
That my destiny is knotted
To this soul
This very one
at this cross road

Although, we’ve not meet
In skin and sweat
Under the soothing reflection of the moon
As it radiates the surrounding
And we fish the stars
Under the watchful eyes of
The Cherubim and seraphim
Yet I know

At the days’ end
When the light of the day
Is enveloped by darkness;
I unburdened my love struck body
On my knees
Muttering prayers of faith
To heavens light,
Putting aside my academic orientation and madness
Begging:
For a second
To touch and feel
This soul
Whom I meet a the cross road
Whom my whole being is knotted with…

***
My soul aches
