Baby Sister Poem by Aidan Clevinger

Baby Sister

My baby sister lives with my dad and stepmom, and I don't get to see her much. But by God's good grace we stick it through, and I am in love with this little girl. Here's to you, Shelby Kay.

How there, baby girl, how are you?
I hope that you're doing fine.
I called to say there's not a day,
When you don't cross my mind.

I look at your picture and sigh,
Already you've grown so much!
Just thinking of you gives me the urge to hop in the car,
Lean on the gas, ease off the clutch.

I know I can't come by much,
I'm not around for you to see.
But there or not, we've got each other,
We're as happy as we can be.

Only God knows why things are like this,
We can't really understand it.
So we'll put our faith in trust in Him,
We'll leave it in His hands.

So hush, little baby, don't you cry,
The cat's in the cradle with the silver spoon.
And don't you worry, because you know,
Big brother will be home soon.

I have a best friend whom I love as a sister. She is seven years younger than I. I certainly feel for her the way you feel for your sis. Great emotion here.
