Background Noise Poem by Paul Warren

Background Noise

There are times when you want to burst
To scream and shout about the worst
News that you did not want to hear
And you wonder when a cloudy sky will clear

So you sit and you take it in
And the rest of the world is background din
All you want is to be left alone
To work it through and stay at home

But the world still turns the same
And it is useless to wait out the game
For the sun will always rise again
Even though you feel you need an end

So for each day you make it through
Is one to tick off of your To Do
But inner thoughts will still remain
To be there as part of your refrain.
