Bad In Baghdad Poem by Dashaun Rashod Snipes

Bad In Baghdad

Rating: 5.0

In the land of ancient tales
Where history's grip never fails
Lies a city of fire and strife
Where darkness rules over life
Baghdad, once a land of grandeur
Now tainted with wounds and horror
A place where tears flood the streets
And broken dreams are all that meets
From the Tigris to the Euphrates
Echoes of agony never dissipates
For bombs and bullets reign
And innocence is slain
But amidst the chaos and pain
A glimmer of hope still remains
For in this city of shattered walls
There beats a heart that never falls
The people, resilient and strong
Defy the darkness all day long
With every sunrise, they rise again
Conquering the fear and strain
Yes, Baghdad may be bad
But in the hearts of those who've had
To endure its unforgiving fate
A brave spirit will forever resonate
For they've seen the worst of days
Yet their faith never sways
And though the scars may never fade
Their spirit will never be betrayed
So let this be a tribute
To the city that's been through
For in the midst of all that's bad
There's still a spirit that shines like a star.
