wore designer clothes
wherever I went
to show the world
who I was

my leased Mercedes
took me from here to there
to show the world
who I was

financed a phone
to post tweets that no one reads
to show the world
who I was

borrowed for the biggest
of big screen TVs
to show the world
who I was

maxed-out my credit cards
for a much-needed vacation
to show the world
who I was

my Rolex?
never did help me
pay my student loans
on time
but it sure did
show the world
who I was

then I filed bankruptcy,
you understand,
to hide from the world
who I am
