Barn, Revisited (Triptych Iii) Poem by Kevin Moore

Barn, Revisited (Triptych Iii)

Struck down and tumbled out upon
this land as though from Annwyn felled -
a Guardian for us Travelers born
of middle Earth midst season Rites -
holds loose within its broken walls
wind-driven faerie songs in
aching shallow solitude.

Its ancient loft marks bodhran sounding
to praise the turning stone and empty
rooms a cairn for memories
of knotted time through time
(once lived) now past and only
stitched upon our minds as
déjà vu revisited.

Barn's shattered glaze - the Vandals touch -
limits not the searching Eye which
sees the dance with Death approaching
(the Demon Man seeks out his prey
and stalks with bow his trophy)
blinding not the memories
etched deep within its walls.

At once a Shield and yet a relic,
barn stands in broken exile upon changing
burgh as supplicant (alone in never
changing) standing time through time
a Guardian for travelers such as us born
of middle Earth midst season Rites
and now just passing through.
