Basic Training Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Basic Training

Rating: 2.8

Basic training in grammar can make
or break a writer

You can be fresh out of high school
or the reform school
for reluctant kids
but if you don't
take those lessons
in grammar seriously
no way are you going
to succeed as a writer
never mind as poet
in cap and bells
delighting his readers
with waggish wit

Was that a comma fault?
a run-on sentence?
logorrhea?

Give Scaramouch an A, please!
