Beadnell Whale Poem by Sebastian Seal

Beadnell Whale

A whale came to the Farnes,
One cold winter's day.
It wanted to get back home,
So it asked me the way.

I told it to go East,
No, North... No, South... No, West!
It followed my instructions,
And wound up Beadnell's guest.

The whale got beached,
Lying in the bay,
The tide went out,
And it failed to get away,

I felt very sad,
Its plight was my mistake,
I pulled on its tail,
And I gave it some cake.

It said it didn't blame me,
I was only a seal pup.
It gave one last gasp,
And then the whale gave up.
