Bear With Me, My Fellow Canadians Poem by Raymond Farrell

Bear With Me, My Fellow Canadians

Bear with me, my fellow Canadians
Me in my mundaneness
And you in yours
The Sexual Revolution
That pushed the boundaries
Back in the 1960s
Is long gone
And oh so vanilla
And the LBGT bunch
Are getting boring
No - I tell you
The envelope is getting pushed
And the rainbow banner
Under which all lovers
Of sexual freedom march
Is soon going to be welcoming
Some new and exciting members
New folks who enjoy
Copulating with their pets
And various farm animals
Now we can add to the LBGT
Some new letters
Maybe QL for Quadriped Lovers
You can see it all
Now try to look on the positive side
Be a good Canadian
And don't be judgemental
The Right Honorable Justin Trudeau isn't
Perhaps he'll bring his dog or pony
To the gay pride parade
Just think, there will be
New causes to support
So you won't be so bored
New charities to donate to
So you won't feel so guilty
And of course
New sexually transmitted diseases
Of viral origin
Will start cropping up
So there will be new victims
To feel sorry for
Isn't irresponsible sexual freedom great?
Who would want to go back
To living like our grandparents
Those old fogies
With their unenlightened monogamy
One man one woman stuff
When society can have all this fun!
And more much more to come
Just don't ask me for a donation
I have nothing to give
Not that I'm heartless
But like the country
I'm really broke.
