Beauty Poem by Eric Ericson

Beauty

Light sneaks up,
like a clever word.
It's meaning not quite clear at first.
‘Till suddenly it leaps from behind.
Surrounded by brilliance and color
we ask,
"Where did the night go? "

It ends the same but backwards.
The eye winks shut.
They slip off their white robes,
flashing peachy pink and blush
but only for a moment.
Then hide in deepest grey
against darker black.

While between we ride
in drudgeries of work and sleep
ignoring the goings and comings.
