Behind Closed Doors Poem by Bron Kozakiewicz

Behind Closed Doors

There are thousands of carers
Hidden behind closed doors,
Who never get a notice,
Or even a thought.
They are often caring for a relative,
Who is in very poor health.
And they carry on caring,
Without a thought for their self.
But because these people
Are behind closed doors,
Nobody else seems
To care any more.
Caring for someone
Right round the clock,
Can give your self confidence
A really hard knock.
And when you find
You are needed no more,
It is such a big step
To open your door.
To carry on living
Life for yourself,
When for such a long time
You've been left on the shelf.
So please remember,
When your life's full of woe,
That there are closed doors
In just about every road.
