Believe Me Poem by Claire Lang

Believe Me

I'm
sorry
dammit.
Believe
me.
You don't know how this feels.
To be hanging by a thread,
screaming regret,
and no one can hear you.
You don't have to like me.
You don't have to
be
my
friend.
(Though it would be nice)
But why can't you
accept
an
apology?
Would it have
hurt
you
to
try?
Would it kill you
to listen?
I don't want to beg you
or insult you
or anything right now,
I just want to say
I'm
sorry.
And I just want you
to
believe
me.
