Ben & Tracy Poem by Amy Carr

Ben & Tracy

Rating: 5.0

I want to be the fly
on your wall,
and see the things
you’re not saying.
Make me feel the
meaning of your words
in my bones.

Caress me softly with
your eyes in the silence
between the lines. Make
love to me with pleading
affection and silky promises
of freedom.

Fight to understand
my logic. Watch me
as the sobs shake my
body and overwhelm my soul.

Prove your love to me
while my fear kills our hope.
Let your patience steal
my carefully reasoned destruction
from the open palm of my heart.

Hear the truth between
the arrows I sling. Ignore the acid
of my hate as it burns the walls
around us. Hold me until
the fire is just ashes and I
am finally at peace within
the quiet of your embrace.

(inspired by the Don Nigro play SEASCAPE WITH SHARKS AND DANCER)
