Best Friend Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Best Friend

When I think of you
I think of a friendship that will never end.
That's not to say that things won't occur,
Even then. I hope that it's not so severe
That I lose a friend in you.
The fact that I don't know you like that
Is the very reason that makes me want
To get to know you like that.
You make my heart beat out of my chest
Just thinking about it.
That's about the only thing that rushes
When you come to mind.
Everything else is second to intention.
That intention, marry my best friend.
No matter how tedious.
No matter how long it takes.
I am finding my way and learning
To protect the things that are close
To my heart.
The lessons you've no doubt had
To learn the hard way.
When I think of you
I think of a friendship that will never end.
I couldn't picture you any other way
In my life.
One day you'll say that you do
And become the biggest part of my peace. My life. My wife.
And when you do I'll be more than
happy than to say.
I knew we would end up like this.
Without question
