Best Friend Poem by Rusty Ed Gibson

Best Friend

You cooked for me when I was ill
You sat beside me and was very still
You helped me make it when I was broke
You partied with me when I was stoked

You grabbed my gun when I was down
You hid the bullets so they couldn’t be found
You held my hand when I was sad
You talked me down when I was mad

You went to the funerals I had to go
You reminded me what I needed to know
You encouraged me to be a better man
You acted like my biggest fan

You cheered me on when no one did
You made me want to give and give
You laughed at all my stupid jokes
You even went to visit my folks

You drank with me until we were sick
You sat with me and watched old flicks
You smiled at me when I looked bad
You reminded me of all that I have

You always approach with open arms
You never let me come to any harm
You are who I want to hang with till the end
You are forever and always my best friend
