Betrayal Poem by Rose McLaughlin

Betrayal

Rating: 2.5

You're the unbreakable glass that just fell and crashed.
My belief, my hopes have been tossed aside.

My emotions are the beast,
And it cries in rage and resentment.

The left over feelings that are left unorganized,
The are the ones that have been lied to and torn apart.

You broke your promises,
You lied to me,
You gave up to easily..

Was your strength ever really there,
or was this but a Broadway inspired tale,
that you chose to weave in spite of trusting heart and mind?

Where is your courage now as you take off into the night?
Where is your courage now as you run and hide from open arms?
Where is your courage now as you see someone is getting too close?

Your feet may take you miles,
but your soul will remember your dishonesty,
You memories will always follow.

How many blankets have you weaved with your tale,
only to leave them unfinished and abandoned?

As you dig your grave,
Think of those who gave all they had for you.

As you pull the trigger,
May Heaven's violins play you a song of memory.
A memory of those left behind.

Your leap off the mountain was not merely of faith,
Your leap off the mountain was also a followed command.

And so tears stain the cheeks of the mourning.
And so the widow sobs into a deep slumber.

She wishes to never return to conscious thought,
For if she does have to, she would remember your steps out the door.

And her first memory to arrive would be that of heartbreak,
And her second memory to arrive would be that of affection,
And her third memory to arrive would be that of resentment.

A beating heart is torn to shreds this eve,
A beating heart that will never understand others' decisions,
A beating heart that wishes to believe,
A beating heart that knows you shan't return.

And so we mourn and so we pray,
And so we continue to long,
Ans so we release the pain as to not be consumed by it.
