Better Dead Than Alive Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Better Dead Than Alive

Better dead than alive

“I swear”
He claimed
“I’ll kill you if we meet face to face
You bastards; you cowards,
In hiding as are rats,
Stinging scorpions in pockets,
Be aware you devils
It’s my place and you pass.
You are the thieves, chameleons, you are rats.”
His roaring was lion’s
Jaguar’s with pride,
(Black fur, shiny eyes,
Dignified, dignified
With no gun, no gadget as are SEALs
He was a Taliban, Yemeni; patriot
Of Iraq or elsewhere
And against)
“Not for me, oh never oh never will I Capitulate.”
He was a champion
Girls in line to be bride with heads up
And people, though afraid
With mountains, and plains, and skies
Sang along with rivers and the breeze and the wind
In choir:
“Better dead than alive with no pride.”
