Do you really think history is boring? It is a map of the human heart TREBLINKA We will never mature by ignoring the lessons that history imparts BUCHENWALD Now the ovens stand cold and bare and they say there is no bird-song there DACHAU It remains a memorial to evil - a memorial and a history all must share even if you were never there SOBIBOR Six million souls reach across the expanse for justice, respect, remembrance MAUTHAUSEN Do you think that raking over the ashes is unnecessary? So many souls to disagree AUSCHWITZ We must never forget... BIRKENAU The insanity of modern times... SACHSENHAUSEN If you want a message less direct... MAJDANEK Then read between the lines.

I like the two 'voices' in the poem. Could imagine this working brilliantly in a son et lumière performance with grainy black and white photos and the name of the camp waxing and waning onto and off the screen at the rate of a heartbeat. You write powerful material, Kevin. I know you 'perform' musically, but sometime, perhaps, another performance may be warranted with your own material.... Keep on writing. Tony |

May the Holocaust be remembered forever! It is only when the past fades into insignificance can its evil rise again in the cloak of secrecy. Thank you for a moving reminder! |
