In my life, I’ve always thought I’ve seen,
People with such deep emotions of pain,
…With such loneliness and helplessness from within.
In my life, I’ve always thought I’ve felt,
Such hopelessness and pretensions to conceal,
… The grief of losing
… The fear of not knowing
… Where to start
… Or how to begin
In my heart, I would have embraced you close…
to comfort your sorrow…
to feel your soul…
In my arms, I would have kept you safe and warm…
But all I can do is to watch the ruins
… Look at the stones that crushed your bones
… Stare at the once burning sand that scorched your skin.
In your eyes, I have felt and seen,
Such enormity of solitude, despair and vulnerability,
The sorrow of losing and the anxiety of not knowing
…. Where to begin
…. How to start
In my arms and in my heart,
I could have embraced you close enough,
I could have made you feel that you’re not alone,
I could have told you that this will end soon.
But all I can do is to feel what’s beyond your eyes’ reflections.
