Big White Hunter Poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

Big White Hunter

Big white hunter

To kill elephants is called big game hunting
by men who appear not to have shaved for five days,
I wonder if they paint the beard in the morning
these killers of wild animals see themselves as daring men
who will never be called up to serve their country
to face mines and where the enemy shoots back to kill them.
I see one of them on Twitter holding up a dead leopard
smiling at the camera, his pride is overflowing totally in
denial of their foul acts; my god, how I wish an elephant
will kneel and kneed one of them to death, it would
be a highlight to see the elephant hold up with its trunk
the flattened body of a hunter for the camera to see
his limp body a victim of his bloodlust.
